A while back, I posted these to the previous version of the Ceive blog, The Ceivery. When I was designing the identity package and website for My Mechanix, I scoured the web looking for an Adobe Illustrator brush that would allow me to make realistic tire tracks and came up empty handed. A little while and a couple BittBox tutorials later, I created my own. Giving fellow that I am, I decided to pass them along in case another designer found themselves in a similar quandary. If you use them, please post a link in a comment below, I’d love to see how they’re being used!

Installation:

Even though it has an .ai extension, this is an Illustrator Brush Library, not an actual Illustrator file. You will not be able to open the file normally in Illustrator.

Download the library and unzip it.

Move it to Illustrator > Presets > Brushes.

Restart Illustrator If it was open during installation.

Loading the Brush:

Open the Brushes palette in Illustrator if it isn’t already. (Window > Brushes)

Click on the little arrow in the upper right of the palette and select “Open Brush Library” then click on “Ceivery_Tire_Tracks” to load the brush.

Make “vroom vroom” sounds like a kid driving a toy car.
