Challenge

In 20 years, Hilmar Cheese Company has grown from a collective of 10 dairymen to the world’s largest single-site cheese producer, but their online offerings did not reflect this success or credibility. They asked Ceive to create four distinctive, but inter-related sites: 1) a “corporate information” site; 2) a Visitor Center information, education, and ecommerce site; 3) an informational site for their newest division, Hilmar Ingredients; 4) a secure extranet for data reporting.

Solution

We worked with HCC to organize the flow of information so that hilmarcheese.com would efficiently and intuitively serve all 4 of their distinct audiences. Among the many interactive pieces of this project, we created: 1) an educational virtual tour tool to deliver video and Flash content describing the cheesemaking process; 2) an email subscription tool for managing subscribers and creating and distributing HTML-rich newsletters; 3) a simple-to-manage ecommerce engine; 4) a powerful content management tool to allow content updates as well as creation of new site sections and pages, all through a user-friendly interface; 5) a database and reporting tools aimed at a non-technical audience.

These sites have been released in phases over the past 6 months, with each launch showing early success in search engine rankings, dramatically increased hits, and user acceptance and feedback.
